Toxicity and Disease

The Benefits of Far infrared Saunas
Dr. Linda M. Knowski

You can walk into any drug store and find products designed to make you look good on the outside, but what about the inside of our bodies? Good health and beauty begin beneath the skin, which is why it is important for us to rid the body of toxins.

Our bodies accumulate toxins through what we eat, breathe and drink on a daily basis. Pesticides are sprayed on our lawns, fruits and vegetables. Lead is found in our drinking water. Chemicals are contained in our detergents, shampoos, lotions and deodorants. All of these toxins accumulate in our bodies leading to toxic overload.

To maintain good health and an appropriate weight, it’s recommended that you detoxify four times a year, preferably with the changing seasond. Detoxification refers to the removal of toxins from the body. By using a Far Infrared Sauna and natural supplements such as herbs and nutrients you can rejuvenate your body.

Far infrared saunas can provide relief to people suffering from arthritis, chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, and certain skin conditions. The sauna helps menopause symptoms by relieving chills, nervousness, depression, dizziness, head & stomach aches.

The sauna is also great for weight loss: first, through sweating and the energy use needed to produce the sweat and second, through direct excretion of fat. The sauna burns up to 600 & more calories in just one 30-minute session. Here are how many calories a 150-pound person normally burns up in 30 minutes of exercise: Swimming (crawl stroke) : 300, Jogging : 300, Tennis (fast game) : 265, Cycling (10mph) : 225, Golfing (without a cart) : 150, Walking (3.5mph) : 150, Marathon Running 593. Some weight loss authorities believe that our bodies use fat to dilute toxins. As an Infrared Sauna is an unsurpassed expeller of toxins, it is also a great way to get rid of any fat our bodies are using to dilute toxins we are storing.

How does it work? The sauna is set at a low, dry heat (110 – 140 degrees) and people begin by sitting in the sauna for 30 minute sessions. A person’s state of health will determine how many sessions may be needed to see results. The heat causes the toxins to be released by cells and upon sweating; the toxins come out of the body to be wiped away. This type of sauna is superior to a steam room or wet heat as it allows the body temperature to be kept lower, enabling a longer stay in the sauna. The dry heat also allows a person to easily breathe the air, particularly important for those with cardiovascular conditions.

There is no greater feeling than that of being renewed and truly clean. A real cleansing process should be one that reaches every cell in the body. Detoxification combined with a sensible diet and exercise, an herbal detoxification program can yield excellent results and enable you to attain a balanced state of health.
